I am a graduate of the Royal College of Art and have lived and worked in London for the past 17 years.
My time is divided between illustration, painting on location and lecturing. For me all 3 disciplines feed each other, keeping me on my toes and keen to explore new uses for my work.
Travel is a very important ingredient in all of this and a strong element within much of my work. Capturing a sense of place, creating atmosphere without necessarily being too precise or literal, keeping the work fresh and immediate.
I have recently spent 3 months in the countryside, living in a cemetery lodge. This was the big test to see if I was ready to leave London. The results have proved inconclusive. So for now I'm working back in my studio, Big Orange, with other illustration compatriates, in frighteningly trendy Shoreditch dreaming of my next big trip abroad.
